With Thanks
Thanks to all our customers regular and new, we have been kept gainfully employed over these past few months.
The range of books we have shipped has been very interesting, encompassing a wide spectrum of subjects.
There have been many children’s books either old favourites such as Billy Bunter; Jennings; Rupert; Chalet School and the Enid Blyton’s series, or more recent authors/illustrators such as Lemony Snicket; J.K. Rowling; Michael Morpurgo and Quentin Blake. There have also been books to enchant such as the Pop-ups or to entice such as the Early Readers.
The range of value reflects our stock too, from the more affordable end to the higher end of rare and exquisite books kept in our Special Book Room.
Another section that showed an increase in popularity were the books in our Crafts category. The subjects ranged from wheelwright work to stumpwork (embroidery) to building models and horology. All fascinating.
Many categories remained steadfastly popular such as railways; military; history; art and ornithology.
As I write this, we are still only able to deal with orders received online or over the phone. We are unable to allow members of the public into our shop due to the floods we suffered earlier this year. Naturally there have been delays in beginning the repair work required. We look forward to the time when it is all sorted and the shop looking lovely once again.
