Almost very good condition in a very good dustwrapper. The very first Rupert annual and the first Rupert book to be illustrated by Alfred Bestall. Red cloth with illustration of Rupert sitting reading on front cover. Black, red and white illustrations. The first time Rupert appeared wearing his now famous red jumper. (Tourtel's Rupert was dressed in blue). 124 pages. First story is Rupert and the Wonderful Kite.
Uneven fading to covers. Wear to corners. Foxing throughout. Page 37 a painting page has been approx. 1/2 completed neatly. Pages 58/59 have a black ink mark smudged across. Last page (painting page) has been completed with paints! Wrapper is a bit foxed, has some edge-chipping/creasing, but just a little loss to corners. Belongs to box is clean. Faint pencil inscription above Belongs to Box
