Almost very good condition in a almost very good dustwrapper. The Famous Five's first adventure featuring a ruined castle, a wreck and buried treasure. Black boards, silver titles. Plain endpapers. B/w illustrations.

Bumping to spine and cover edges. A few marks to rear cover. Name in ink to front pastedown. Inscription in ink to front endpaper, with foxing. Foxing and a little damp marking to rear endpaper and outer page edges, with some foxing to internal pages. Pictorial wrapper is edge-torn in a few places and chipped, with only a few small bits of loss. Grubby to rear panel and browned and foxed to verso.
