- Horace Cocker had only himself to blame, for a fifth former ought to know better than leave a limerick about his form master lying in the quad. Bunter found it, and things may have been all right had Coker not smacked Bunter's head. Bunter wanted revenge and handed the limerick to Mr. Quelch in an envelope for safe keeping and there opened up before the villain a never ending vista of tuck, supplied by a blackmailed and fearful Coker.
- Although the desperate attempts made by the unhappy Horace to recover his limerick meet with little success, such greed must eventually receive its just reward and the Famous Five, unexpectedly aided by that great poet Quintus Horatius Flaccus, brought the retribution due to the wicked upon the head and trousers of William George Bunter.
