Very good condition in a very good dustwrapper.
A selection of Victorian stories edited by Avery. Green boards, white title to spine. B/w illustrations. Authors include Gatty, Ewing, Yonge, etc. Spine and corners slightly bumped, cover edges rubbed. Top page corners haven't been cut very well during printing/binding process causing some slight ragged edges, one page has small piece missing from top margin due to this error (text unaffected). Wrapper is price-cut and edge rubbed with evidence of removal of small label to front panel, slightly grubby rear panel and very slightly browned spine.

Maria Henniker-Hadden's (the delightful heroine of The Warden's Niece) adventures in Italy spring of 1877. Blue mottle boards, silver title to spine. 256 pages. B/w illustrations. Spine and corners slightly bumped and rubbed. Name, date and old price in ink to front free-endpaper. Some light foxing. Dustwrapper is edge rubbed and slightly grubby to rear panel.

Spine slightly bumped. Light mark to front cover. Contents clean. Dustwrapper is grubby to rear panel and has tears to rear spine edge and to top corner of rear panel.

The fourth story of the Smith family, beginning with a misunderstanding (like many wars before and since). Red boards, silver title to spine. 256 pages. B/w text illustrations. Spine and corners bumped. Light tape mark to front cover. Name in ink and also evidence of removal of a label to front free-endpaper. Dustwrapper is edge worn, chipped with slight loss, a bit grubby to rear panel and has a large tear across front panel which has been tape repaired on verso and is not very noticeable to front.

Foxing mostly to prelims and page edges. Top edge of text block a little dusty. Yellow pictorial dustwrapper is edge worn with a few small tears. Spine and edges are browned. Rear panel is grubby. Damp staining to bottom - more noticeable on verso which is heavily foxed.
