The story of a five-year-old salmon and his friends, beginning when they come into the estuary in early spring, a crescendo of adventures, excitements and endurances. Brown cloth with gilt title and small vignette to spine. Blue maps for endpapers. 7.5 x 5". Spine and corners bumped. Covers slightly edge rubbed. Inscription in ink to front fly-leaf. Pale page browning to endpapers. Top edge of textblock (which is dyed pink) has partially faded. Dustwrapper is edge worn with small chips and a larger tear to lower edge of rear panel. Verso of wrapper is lightly browned/foxed.

First printing of the edition with 16 full page colour illustrations by country Artist CF Tunnicliffe plus b/w chapter headers and footers. Spine browned, covers unevenly browned. Name in ink to verso of half-title page. All plates present. Contents creased diagonally across top half of page. Still a reasonable copy.
