- This is the story of Ella Sordy - a real Cinderella, if ever there was one. Ella lived in a colliery village, at the foot of the slag-heaps. All around her there was nothing but pit chimneys and the sky was forever clouded with soot and smoke. In young Ella's heart, however, there was a great love of beauty - especially the beauty of the ballet - and a great longing to be a dancer.
- At first it seemed that such an ambition could never be realised. Then along came a fairy godmother in the person of Veronica Weston, the famous Sadler's Wells ballerina and, immediately, things began to happen!
