Contents

  • Charles Resislau, the 16 year old son of a famous Polish composer, who disappeared following the defence of Warsaw, and an English mother, sets out to prove that he can earn his own living either by his music (he already plays violin very well) or by doing odd jobs. He takes with him his most prized possessions, his father's violin and his bicycle. He meets the Buckinghams - Juliet aged 15 and her younger brother Simon.
  • The three decide to join forces for the summer, seeking adventure and earning what they can for their food and lodgings. Amongst other adventures they are involved in a cross-country chase from Hereford to London and a concert in the Albert Hall with an unexpected ending.
