Very good condition in a very good dustwrapper.
Set of 4 volumes - "Chicken Soup With Rice", "Pierre", "One Was Johnny" and "Alligators All Around". Pink cloth, brown titles and vignettes. Colour illustrations. Approx 30 pages to each volume. Small books being, 3.5 x 2.5". Contained in a pictorial slip-case. Books are fine. Wrappers are a little browned, the spine of One Was Johnny is rubbed and the panels of Alligators are browned. Wrapper of Chicken Soup has the small off-white band to base of spine. Slipcase is just a little rubbed at corners.

Two nonsense nursery rhymes wonderfully illustrated by full-page colour pictures. 7.5 x 8.5". Unpaginated. ISBN: 0370007743. Spine bumped. Light page browning throughout. There is a small damp mark to textblock (but it doens't affect the actual pages). Dustwrapper is lightly browned and is grubby and edge rubbed.

This the only biography of one of America's greatest and most influential cartoonists, Winsor McCay (1867-1934), the universally acknowledged first master of both the comic strip and the animated cartoon. Although invented by others, both genres were developed into enduring popular art of highest imagination through McCay's innovative genius. He attributed his considerable success to "an absolute craving to draw pictures all the time." ISBN: 0810959410. Wrapper is a little edge-creased with small nick to edge of rear panel.
