Almost very good condition.
1st Series, Second Edition. The author seeks to paint a series of pictures, the reflections of scenes and aspects in nature, which in his mind awaken poetic interest, leaving them to do their proper work. Green cloth boards, gilt title to spine, gilt vignette of monkey and boys to front board. 12 b/w illustrations, drawn by Wolf and engraved by Whymper. xiv and 372 pages including index, 4 pages of publisher adverts to rear. Spine & corners ligthly rubbed & worn. New endpapers. Illustrations contents page detached but present. Contents are tight but grubby. All plates present. A decent copy for its age.
