Foreword and numerous b/w photos by Rev. W. Awdry of 'Thomas The Tank' fame. B/w photos. ISBN: 1852600497. Pictorial dustwrapper is lightly scuffed and lightly faded to spine.
Small oblong format. Black boards, white titles and vignette to front. Colour pictures throughout. Spine and corners very slightly bumped. A few hinges are cracked and pulled. Dustwrapper is slightly edge worn and a little grubby on rear panel.
Railway series no. 6 Yellow boards with blue vignette. Full page colour illustrations throughout. 62 pages. 4.25 x 5.75". Spine bumped and faded. Name and address written in ink to front free-endpaper, also an ink address stamp (different address) to same page. Slight cracking to the hinges. Some light fingermarks at page margins but contents generally clean.
The first title in the Railway series. The three engines all lived in the same shed and worked on the same railway... Small oblong format. Cream boards with green title and border to front cover. 62 pages. Colour illustrations. The first printing WITHOUT the advert at the rear of the volume for Thomas the Tank Engine which was published in 1946 and the use of the term fat director which is present on pages 40, 42, 52, 54, 56 and 60. In the 1947 edition and after he was renamed famously The Fat Controller. Covers slightly edge worn, some light foxing to covers. Small split to base of spine. Inscription in ink to front free-endpaper. Stitching slightly pulled causing contents to be a little loose. Some small, light fingermarks to contents. Dustwrapper is edge worn with small chips and slight loss and grubby. Still a nice, desirable copy of the scarce first edition with very scarce original dustwrapper.
Railway Series No. 8. Brown boards with yellow title and vignette. Full page colour illustrations. 62 pages. 4.25 x 5.75". Spine very slightly bumped. Tiny black mark to edge of rear cover. Endpapers lightly browned and foxed. A couple of hinges are cracked. Contents clean.
Railway Series No. 7. Poor Thomas has been in trouble - the Fat Controller asks Toby to come and help run the Branch Line. Delightful colour pictures every page. Grey boards, red titles and vignette. 4 x 5.5". 63 pages. Spine and cover edges are browned. A few small marks to rear cover. Grubby finger marks to front endpaper.
Blue boards with gilt vignette. Full page colour illustrations. 62 pages. 4.25 x 5.75". Spine is bumped and browned. Corners are bumped. A few marks to covers. Contents are very good.

Grey boards, red titles and vignette. 4 x 5.5". 63 pages. Browning to cover edges. Bumping to corners. Pencil tick marks to other titles in series to last page. Wrapper is badly torn and creased, with some yellowing tape repairs; pieces of loss to edges.

Railway Series No 4. Blue boards, gilt title and vignette to front. Colour illustrations. Small, oblong format. Covers are unevenly browned with other marks, including cup ring mark. Inscription to front pastedown. Foxing to endpapers and outer page edges. Some margin marks. First 3 pages, including front endpaper has top corner cut off.
Railway Series No. 5. Green boards with gilt decorations. Full page colour illustrations. 62 pages. 4.25 x 5.75". Marks and wear to covers. Contents are partially detached from binding, with stitching showing; one hinge broken. Tape repair to start and end of book. A reading copy only!
Railway Series no. 14. Small oblong format. Grey/blue boards, brown title and vignette to front. Colour pictures. Browning to endpapers; a few light foxspots. Wrapper is stained to top of spine, with some edge-creasing and some spotting.
