Includes: Far from the Madding Crowd, The Trumpet Major, Tess of the d'Urbervilles, The Mayor of Castorbridge, and Jude the Obscure. Various colour cloth boards with corn dolly vignette to front boards. Various printings of 1991 exceot Jude the Obscure which is a first thus 1992. Fading to spine of Jude the Obscure. Title blocks are scuffed. Minor foxing to text blocks. Contents otherwise clean. Contained in publisher's slipcase which is shelf-scuffed and has a small worn patch to one side, foxing/damp to inside of slipcase. Slipcase does give the impression of being just a little too large width-ways for the books... unsure if this set is the original set for the box.

Set in two slip-cases consists of: Silas Marner; The Mill on the Floss; Adam Bede; Romola; Felix Holt; Daniel Deronda; Middlemarch. Different colour cloths with b/w engravings by different illustrators. Top edge of text blocks is grubby/lightly browned at the opening ends (approx 2" maximum starting from outside edge). Spine of Middlemarch is faded, only noticeable when removed from the slipcase. Otherwise, a very nice set contained in two slipcases which are lightly scuffed.
