Front cover has peacock design above and elephants below a central wreath. Spine has gilt titles and vignette of a flower urn. Peacock feather design on endpapers. Brown decorative border to each page. 11.25 x 8.75". Unpaginated. Spine is very browned, with a couple of chips/nicks to top and tail. Bumping to corners. A few knocks to cover edges. Marks to covers. Inscription in ink to half-title page. Foxing to various degrees throughout the book. Plates are still very good!

A nice copy of the first issue of the first edition (first issue points present: dung beetle is shown to be pushing dung with front legs on pgs 65, 337 & 457 and horse is being dragged up a vertical cliff on pg 316).
