Leather spine & corners, title label with gilt title to spine, marbled paper boards. First Edition, later printing e.g. contains 'A word to the wise' in vol II. Covers heavily scuffed and worn at edges. Slight loss to title blocks. Leather missing from one front corner. Joints cracked. Title pages have been swapped by the binder i.e. volume one contains title page for volume two and vice versa. All plates present. Text block browned. Contents browned and foxed. Plates nice and bright with browning and foxing mainly to margins.

The Flower Plates from Robert Thornton's 'The Temple of Flora' are taken from the edition of 1980 copies published by The Folio Society in 2008. They are printed on Modigliani paper by Beacon Press, Uckfield, Sussex. 29 plates in total. All plates present and immaculate. Portfolio has a slight scuff to rear board (very minor).
