Published by Frederick Warne & Co Ltd..

1969.
Very good condition in a very good dustwrapper.
The Tailor of Gloucester, as originally written by Beatrix Potter, was three times as long as the small edition published by Frederick Warne and Company which her admirers know so well today, and she was reluctant to have its text cut or altered. However, even in the privately printed edition, which she published herself, she was obliged to sacrifice some eleven hundred words and in the Warne edition that followed, a thousand words were deleted. This is a printed trade edition of the original manuscript and pictures with all the cherished nursery rhymes included and all the whimsical details retained. Produced with the assistance of the Free Library of Philadelphia, owner of the original manuscript and pictures. Cream pictorial boards. Full page colour illustrations. 9.5 x 7.5" ISBN: 0723210985. Slight evidence of removal of a bookplate to front free-endpaper. Contents fine. Price-cut wrapper is browned and edge worn.
