Very large format. Cloth spine. Paper boards with black titles. Part I of Volume IV. From the coming of the Normans into Wales down to the present time. Containing the following parishes and hamlets in the hundred of Caldicot: Chepstow, St. Arvans, Penterry, Mounton, Mathern, St. Pierre, Runstone, Portskewet, Sudbrook, Caldicot, Ifton, Caerwent, The Chace or Forest of Wentwood. Boards rubbed and worn at corners, boards marked, spine grubby. Name in ink to front pastedown. Front joint starting to crack but binding is tight. Scattered foxspots (pale) throughout and a few instances of grubby fingermarks to margins. Newspaper cutting pasted to rear pastedown. Some pencil annotation.

Containing Title, Indices of Names and Places, Addenda and Corrigenda (Together with 5 plates to be intserted in Parts I and II). Colour folding map frontis showing the Hundred of Caldicot. Boards waterstained, marked and browned. Score mark to rear board and slight surface paper damage to top rear corner. Boards slightly bowed. A few fingermarks and foxspots to contents. Frontis map is beautifully clean and bright.
