Heavy bumping and wear to spine and corners. Uneven fading and some scuffing to covers. Front endpaper and prelim text page are detached, with chipping and creasing, but loosely inserted. Inscription in ink to front endpaper. Some foxing. A few grubby margin marks. All plates are present - some tissue-guards are creased/detached. A reading copy.

A study of the many translations of the twelve Swallows and Amazons books of Arthur Ransome. Large format. Red boards with gilt titles. 120 pages. Colour and b/w illustrations. Spine and corners bumped. Slight markings to textblock edges and a few light fingermarks to page margins (mainly at prelims). Dustwrapper is just lightly creased at top edges.

Arthur Ransome
Arthur Michell Ransome (18 January 1884 – 3 June 1967) was an English author and journalist. He is best known for writing the Swallows and Amazons series of children's books about the school-holiday adventures of children, mostly in the Lake District and the Norfolk Broads. The books remain popular and Swallows and Amazons is the basis for a tourist industry around Windermere and Coniston Water, the two lakes Ransome adapted as his fictional North Country lake.
