Cloth also split on rear edge. A little rubbing to pictorial onlay. Gilt on spine very faded and spine is browned. Rear cover grubby. Front joint badly cracked showing webbing beneath. Some hinges cracked. Two plates taped in. Tape is browned and plates are wrinkled. 2 plates are loose. Frontis has been taped back in wrong place. Ticks to contents list. Some foxing and margin marks. Edge if rear pastedown missing. A reading copy.

Only 2" of backstrip of spine still present; rest is MISSING; piece that's left is only attached to one side of spine. Grubby marks and some fading to covers. Corners are bumped, with wear. Inscription in ink to front endpaper. Binding is weak; front joint is cracked, but still attached by stitching. Page 13/14 has a corner of loss with a little loss to title at top. A few pages of contents are detached, but loosely inserted. Foxing to pages, chipping to some page edges. A reading copy.
