Slightly better than very good condition in a very good dustwrapper.
Distribution maps and accompanying text for 2412 flowering plants in Great Britain and Ireland. All the native species and all the commoner hybrids and ointroduced species are covered together with a wide range of subspecies. Large format. 910 pages. ISBN: 0198510675. A little wear to cloth at corners. Acetate overlay is present. CD-Rom present in sleeve at rear (NOT TESTED). Light stain affecting edge of last few pages. Contents otherwise are generally clean and bright. Acetate overlay is present. Wrapper is edge creased, with a small tear, and creased across the lower part of the rear panel.

John Ray's Catalogus was his first published work on Botany and the result of nine years study between 1651 and 1660. Translated from the Latin and edited by Ewen and Prime. Green cloth, gilt titles to spine. A few b/w photos. 146 pages pages includes index. ISBN: 0854860908. Lower spine slightly bumped and rubbed. Bump to top edge of front cover. Pages very lightly browned else fine. Wrapper slightly worn at top of spine and a little grubby.

Facsimile edition with introductory booklet in custom made clamshell box. 91 watercolour facsimiles from the Maria Sibylla Merian Collection in the British Museum. Maria Sibylla Merian was one of the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries' great painters of plants and animals. Limited edition of 1000. A sturdy inner panel holds the commentary volume underneath. This is bound in green cloth and printed on high-quality white laid paper. Julie Harvey of the Entomology Library at the Natural History Museum has written a fascinating introduction to Merian's work, setting it in context and providing an overview of her life and times. Due to the size of this book, if posted, it will need to be sent via courier. Small scuff mark to top of rear board (minor). Else a beautiful copy. Copy No. 16 of 1000. Clam shell case is in fine condition. Contained in original packaging from the Folio Society - polystyrene (reinforced and repaired with brown tape) and cardboard box. This copy would make a wonderful gift.
