In 1939 the 122 (West Riding) Field Regiment Royal Artillery TA was formed and on February 15, 1942, it ceased to exist with the fall of Sinapore. Only 13 members of the regiment were killed in action; more than 200 members who formed the regiment were to die a cruel and agonising death at the hands of their Japanese captors.
