Illustrated endpapers. 16 beautiful tipped in and guarded colour plates mounted on grey card. 180pp. Bumping and wear to spine and corners. Damp mark down edge of front cover. Foxing to outer page edges and some page margins. All plates are present - some have corner creasing to them.

A few light spots to covers. Light browning to endpapers. Some foxing, mainly to prelims, page edges and last couple of pages. Grubby fingermarks to last text page. Edge of page 9/10 and 11/12 has not been cut in binding process so pages still joined, a couple of other pages edges have uneven edges assume were not cut and have been opened roughly. Contents generally clean. All plates present, 2 have very light corner creases, paper guard to frontis has vertical crease.

Red leather covers with thin gilt diagonal lines and borders, raised bands to spine with green title blocks and gilt titles. 30 tales plus 32 colour plates (with captioned tissue guards) to contents. 303 pages. 9.5 x 7.25". A little wear to corners and cover edges. Spine slightly faded. Covers lightly rubbed and scratched. Front joint cracked by frontis. Some browning to prelims, marks to outside edge of half-title page. Just an odd mark to contents. All plates present, edge of frontis is a bit ragged.

Large format. Green cloth covers. Gilt decorative and text. A fascinating insight into the English monastic life exquisitely illustrated in colour. Top edge gilt. Bumping and wear to spine and corners. Fading to spine, with a couple of chips to cloth at top. Inscription in ink to front pastedown. Some foxing. A few page edges have tears, with a bit of loss, where at one time pages were uncut and they have not been cut neatly.

Frontis has a small, light crease to lower corner but all other plates are present and in fine condition. This copy would make a wonderful gift.

Covers are a little marked. Endpapers and contents browned with a little foxing. Some tissue guards possibly missing. Tissue guard for frontis foxed. One for Lilies is torn. Contents are generally clean.
