Large format. Brown suede covers with gilt titles and vignettes. Brown and white pictorial endpapers. 16 superb colour plates. Poems that are "the very essence of the British spirit" selected and introduced by Nichols. All plates present. Spine slightly bumped. Rear cover a little scuffed. 4 x 4 inch piece cut from top corner of front endpaper. Contents near fine.

Bumping to spine, corners and top and bottom edge of rear board. Spine and part of rear board faded and a little foxed. Boards are mottled, faint damp stains to lower edges. Bookplate to front pastedown and inscription plus '198' written on front endpaper. Foxing to prelims and page edges. Inner bottom corner of all plates a little creased.

Clear tape repairs to tears on verso. 5 written on front panel near fold. Corners cut from flaps.
