Cheaper Edition. Thoreau's two year stay at Walden Pond, Massachusetts, living a simple life surrounded by nature. Green cloth boards, gilt title to spine. Sixteen tipped in woodcuts with tissue-guards. 289 pages. Top edge gilt. Other edges untrimmed. Spine faded and has pale foxing, worn at top of spine with slight loss of cloth, small split in cloth to front edge of spine. Text block browned. Gilt top edge is dull and scratched. Some scattered minor foxing. All plates present. A decent copy.

Numerous b/w diagrams and folding plates. Spine worn and rubbed at edges, boards rubbed. Joints split and free front endpaper (with presentation plate) detached as a result. Crossed out name in ink and red rubber stamped name to half-title page. Red rubber stamped name also to top of first chapter. Edges of some of the folding plates are worn (all plates present). Text block is browned and also page edges. A few pulled hinges but contents generally sound.

Very good condition in a very good dustwrapper.
The adventure of the author in 1933 when he sailed from Tahiti to Pitcairn. Some uneven fading and a little mottling to covers. Vertical creasing to some pages of prelims. Page browning with a little foxing. Wrapper is a bit grubby with some creasing and small nicks.
