Large format. Cream cloth spine with green title, green paper boards. 12 exquisite tipped-in colour plates, mounted on captioned paper with borders. Lovely b/w illustrations (full-page and text). 185 pages. Top edge green. Bumping and wear to spine, corners and cover edges. Some uneven fading to covers. Some foxing throughout. All plates present. Wrapper is edge-creased and worn, with a little surface paper damage to rear panel.
Red cloth, gilt titles. Circular white and gilt illustration to front cover. 6 richly coloured plates mounted on card, plus numerous b/w illustrations, many full-page. Translated from the French by A.E. Johnson. Spine bumped, worn and faded/browned, nicks to cloth at ends. Corners bumped and worn, damp staining to bottom corners. A few marks to covers including damage to gilt writing on front cover. Covers faded alongside spine. Red colour from covers to bottom corner of first and last few pages. A couple of hinges starting to crack but binding is firm. Ink inscription and small bookseller's sticker to rear endpapers. Foxing throughout. All plates present, 2 have light corner creases.
Colour frontis, numerous b/w text and full page illustrations throughout. Green cloth covers, gilt illustration and titles to front. 178 pages. 8.5 x 6.75". Spine and corners bumped and rubbed. Board edges darkened. Both joints beginning to crack. Heavy browning to endpapers, tissue guard and title page. Some foxing, worst on prelims and last couple of pages and page edges.
Brown cloth with gilt title to spine. Bumping and wear to spine and corners. Some foxing and page browning.
Originally published by Freemantle in 1900, Constable purchased the copyright and reissued this sumptuous version with revised, redrawn and recoloured illustrations. Crimson cloth with gilt decorations to spine and front cover. 40 exquisite tipped-in colour plates with captioned tissue guards. Red and grey pictorial endpapers. Top edge red. 325 pages. Title on front cover and spine is "Grimm's Fairy Tales". Spine is damaged - 3.5" split to edge of front cover at base, 1.5" to centre of spine at top. Spine also slightly faded. One plate (opposite page 28) is detached, one opposite page 90 is creased, all others present and mostly in fine condition. Tissue-guard for frontis is missing, a couple of others are loose with ragged edges. Foxing and some fingering to contents. A good copy of a scarce Rackham edition.
Limited edition of 380 numbered and signed copies. Gilt decorated vellum. 16 superb tissue-guarded mounted colour plates with captioned tissue-guards. B/w text illustrations throughout. 254 pages. SIGNED by Robinson plus and inscription in ink "To Peter & Christopher Brinsmead, with best wishes for Xmas 1944 from Granny Heath Robinson". Copy no. 213. Very faint musty smell to contents. Covers are a little soiled. Spine and corners bumped and slightly worn. Lacking silk ties. Joints are cracked but binding still tight. Endpapers browned. Foxspots to endpapers and some page margins. Pale page browning. A nice copy of this scarce item.
