2nd edition. 447 pages. 54 b/w plates. Three-quarter dark blue leather binding, green cloth boards, gilt title to spine. 4 raised bands to spine. Marbled endpapers. Boards marked, leather binding worn and scuffed, spine faded to brown. Joints repaired with matching green cloth. Very few grubby marks to contents. All plates present, one plate marked, others may have light page browning and light foxing. Pages 213 to 218 have a tiny ink stain to corner.
Green cloth, gilt title to spine. 62 illustrations. Heavy wear to covers, with ink marks; some chipping to cloth at corners. Name in ink to front endpaper. Portrait plate page to 228 is MISSING. Some other plate pages are not bound in - but loosely inserted. Creasing and some chipping to page edges. A reading copy.

List of subscribers to rear implies a limited edition of 100 copies. Subscribers' copy No. 49. Front and rear hinge pulled but binding otherwise sound. A few margin marks and foxspots. All plates present. Boards a little marked but very nice for its age.
