Inscription in silver ink to front free-endpaper. Top edge of textblock is slightly grubby. Original film wrapper is slighty torn and chipped at top of spine.

Numerous b/w drawings including some full-page. Green cloth, elaborate gilt decorations to front cover and spine. 126 pages. Large format, 11.25 x 8.5 inches. Fading and spotting to spine. A few marks to rear cover. Inscription in ink to front endpaper. Foxing to endpapers, outer page edges and some page margins. All plates present.

Illustrated endpapers. 22 beautiful tissue-guarded colour plates and b/w text illustrations.198 pages. Spine and corners slightly bumped and rubbed. Spine is slightly faded but the gilt is still bright. There is heavy foxing to the first few and last few pages and also to the textblock, and the odd small foxspot to the contents, otherwise contents are clean. Plates all present and in fine condition.

Binding is a little weak; a few hinges are pulled; some chips and tears where plates are bound in. A few plates have margin tears and grubby margin marks. A reading copy.

A few mottled fade marks to spine. Inscription in ink to front pastedown. Some grubby marks and foxing to endpapers and outer page edges. Wrapper has front flap MISSING, with creasing, tears and chips; loss to top and tail of spine and corners. Wrapper is also grubby.
