Front joint starting to crack from base. Hinges pulled but binding tight. Text block browned. Contents generally clean.

Vol 1: hand coloured frontispiece, title page and 17 plates plus Tom and Bob catching a Charley napping. Vol 2: hand coloured frontispiece, title page and 11 plates plus St Georges Day presentation. One of the better imitations of the hugely popular 'Life in London' by Pierce Egan, portraying with accuracy 17th century London society, scenes and buildings. Leather spine & corners, title label with gilt title to spine, marbled paper boards. First Edition, later printing e.g. contains 'A word to the wise' in vol II. Covers heavily scuffed and worn at edges. Slight loss to title blocks. Leather missing from one front corner. Joints cracked. Title pages have been swapped by the binder i.e. volume one contains title page for volume two and vice versa. All plates present. Text block browned. Contents browned and foxed. Plates nice and bright with browning and foxing mainly to margins.
