A & C Colour Book 20 Shilling Series. 8 page booklist to rear. Circa date from books listed to booklist at rear. Tear and hole to top of spine; a bit of loss. Corners are bumped. Bumping and chipping along top edge of rear cover. Joints are a bit cracked. Small stain to margin of plate opposite page 274. Map foxed. Some other foxing throughout.

Possible first variant (with booklist) or very early reprint. Covers are unevenly browned and marked (damp staining?). Front joint is a bit cracked. Inscription in ink dated 1906 to front endpaper. Foxing. 4 plates have ragged/margin torn edges - to opposite pages 78, 104, 144 + 168.

Spine is a bit browned. Some marks and wear to covers. 1 plate is MISSING (opposite page 48). Some heavy foxing (e.g. pages 74/75). Map is a bit edge-creased with foxing.

Looks like one page to prelims has been reinserted. Joint broken to page 137. Tissue guard to page 134 is torn. Tissue guards and plates are worn. This is a working copy ONLY! All plates present. Booklist to rear is dated 1905.
