Wrapper is price-cut with foxing; edge-creasing and a few tears/chips, repaired with sticky tape.

Light browning to endpapers. A few foxspots to page edges otherwise contents are clean. Dustwrapper is edgeworn with some tears. Piece of rear panel has been torn off and repaired with clear tape. Rear panel is grubby.

Small hole to rear board which also affects some pages. Couple of marks to boards. Thread holding contents to boards is beginning to tear endpapers making contents a little loose. Some page browning to contents. Foxing mainly to first and last pages. A few grubby margin marks.

Small tear and bump to top of front board which is faded to grey. A little fading to bottom of front board. A little surface paper damage to top of front endpaper. Some browning to endpapers and prelims. Stitching is loosening but contents are still firmly attached. Dustwrapper is edge worn and rubbed with a few small tears, which have been taped on verso. Front panel is creased. Verso of wrapper is foxed.
Blue cloth with gilt title to spine. B/w illustrations. Spine is browned and bumped. Old sticker to bottom of front cover. Some page browning with foxing to outer page edges.
