Dustwrapper is grubby with light stains. Loss to wrapper edges and to lower half of spine, extensive tape repairs on verso of wrapper.

Large format. Beige cloth spine with brown title. Cream paper boards with circular pictorial onlay of a small chick. 19 mounted colour plates of baby birds. 120 pages. Covers are very worn, picture on onlay is completely worn away. Spine has been rebacked and there are new endpapers. Covers grubby with some browning. Ink inscription to half-title page. A few marks and a little foxing to contents but many pages are clean. All plates are present, pages on which warbler and yellow hammer plates are mounted have been reinserted, edges are grubby. Crease to frontis page but not to plate.
