Trolleybuses first came to London in a small way, being introduced in south west London in 1931 by London United Tramways. Following on from this, in five years between 1935 and 1940 London Transport built up a massive and complex trolleybus network in its replacement of trams. When the Second World War brough development to a halt, London Transport had an operational fleet of 1,671 trolleybuses - by far the largest fleet in the world. Large format. Pictorial glazed boards. B/w photos throughout. ISBN: 1854142607. Pale staining to half-title page arising from glossy paper pages (relatively minor). Else contents clean. Pictorial dustwrapper is faded to spine.

Tracing the Bedford story to its roots in the early years of the formation of the huge General Motors group in America, the foundation of the Chevrolet marque and its transformation by General Motors into the challenger which eventually overtook the hitherto all-conquering Ford as the world's largest producer of cars and commercial vehicles.
