Traditional two-axle trams still ran in the 1970s and then became part of the local network of the celebrated Vicinal, extended in 2012. This wide-ranging book explores the colourful history of the two tramways since 1940, with insight into the political and economic problems which lay behind their decline and partial revival. Very large oblong format. Brown cloth boards with gilt titles. 10 full page colour plates. Unpaginated. Foxing to endpapers and prelims. Several pages have not been bound in (but preesent). Else contents clean. Pictorial dustwrapper is edge-worn with a few small closed tears, 3.5" closed tear to lower rear edge with slight surface paper damage and has been repaired to verso with clear tape, foxing to rear panel.
