9 x 6.5 ins. Red cloth with gilt decoration on front board. Top edge gilt. 20 beautiful colour plates of the author's paintings. A & C Black 7/6 series. Booklist to rear (4 sides). Possible first variant (with booklist) or very early reprint. Covers are unevenly browned and marked (damp staining?). Front joint is a bit cracked. Inscription in ink dated 1906 to front endpaper. Foxing. 4 plates have ragged/margin torn edges - to opposite pages 78, 104, 144 + 168.

Spine is a bit browned. Some marks and wear to covers. 1 plate is MISSING (opposite page 48). Some heavy foxing (e.g. pages 74/75). Map is a bit edge-creased with foxing.

Some fraying/chipping to cloth at top and tail. Marks to covers. Browning and foxing, especially to outer page edges. Plates to pages 50 + 142 are inserted elsewhere. Looks like one page to prelims has been reinserted. Joint broken to page 137. Tissue guard to page 134 is torn. Tissue guards and plates are worn. This is a working copy ONLY! All plates present. Booklist to rear is dated 1905.
