Bumping and wear to spine and corners; a few marks to covers. Small nick to top of spine. Foxing to prelims, endpapers, outer page edges and a few page margins. All plates present. Cigarette smoke odour.

All parts and plates are present, including frontispiece (which is absent from many copies). Frontis has tape repairs to verso.

Volume II is cracked to outside front spine edge with slight loss of leather to top. Contemporary inscription in ink to front endpapers. Volume II has insect damage to gutter edge of prelims. One of the better imitations of the hugely popular 'Life in London' by Pierce Egan, portraying with accuracy 17th century London society, scenes and buildings. Leather spine & corners, title label with gilt title to spine, marbled paper boards. First Edition, later printing e.g. contains 'A word to the wise' in vol II. Covers heavily scuffed and worn at edges. Slight loss to title blocks. Leather missing from one front corner. Joints cracked. Title pages have been swapped by the binder i.e. volume one contains title page for volume two and vice versa. All plates present. Text block browned. Contents browned and foxed. Plates nice and bright with browning and foxing mainly to margins.
