Professionally recased with green cloth; green leather spines with raised bands and corners. New endpapers. B/w illustrations. Some browning to spines and outer page edges. A few margin marks; some foxing. A lovely rebound set!
Fourth Edition. Small format. Green cloth, gilt titles. B/w frontispiece. xxiv and 360 pages including appendix. One or two instances of pencil annotation to margins.

The Cook's Dictionary and House-Keeper's Directory: A New Family Manual of Cookery and Confectionery, On a Plan of Ready Reference Never Hitherto Attempted. Modern binding, brown cloth with gilt title to spine. iv + 516 pages. Title page and first 12 pages browned. Scattered browning throughout. A few small marks to rear board.
Three volumes. Three-quarter green leather binding. Raised bands and gilt titles to spines. Marbled boards. Mitford's novel is based largely on the town of Reading in Berkshire where the author lived for a number of years. No half-title in Volume 1 but not sure it was ever present. Final blank leaves present in all three volumes. Spines very slightly faded but overall a handsome set of this rare first edition.
