Anthony Browne has always acknowledged this classic cult movie to be one of the most potent influences on his work. Never before appearing as a full colour book, there will not be a dry eye in the house as the last page is turned. Blue cloth. 92 pages. 11.75 x 9". ISBN: 1856812588. Small patch of fading to front endpaper (pencil erasure?). Blue pictorial dustwrapper is lightly scuffed and has the remains of a label to top front corner.
Blue cloth spine. Red pictorial boards. Spine bumped and worn. Corners and cover edges worn. Rear cover is a bit grubby with a 2" crease. Front joint is partially cracked with possible loss of free-endpaper? Crack between pages 2&3 causing first few pages to be part detached. Contents are lightly browned and foxed. Pale brown mark to page 41. Some small page edge tears.

Rear panel is a bit grubby.

This the only biography of one of America's greatest and most influential cartoonists, Winsor McCay (1867-1934), the universally acknowledged first master of both the comic strip and the animated cartoon. Although invented by others, both genres were developed into enduring popular art of highest imagination through McCay's innovative genius. He attributed his considerable success to "an absolute craving to draw pictures all the time." ISBN: 0810959410. Wrapper is a little edge-creased with small nick to edge of rear panel.
