Many hundred engravings on wood by Branston. This has been rebound in leather, with darker original leather spine laid down. Wear and scuffing to covers, with some chipping. Some damp markings and foxing internally. Nicks to a few page margins; a little loss.

Original glassine wrapper is still present with some tears and chips and creasing; also some foxing; a bit of loss.

The idea that because weeds are a nuisance they must also be dull is dispelled in a few pages. Not only does the author show that an understanding of these criminals of the plant world will make their control both easier and more interesting: he also imparts to the reader something of his own delight and wonder. SIGNED by Kenneth Allsop (naturalist, broadcaster and author to half-title page). Foxing to outer page edges. Wrapper is price-cut with browned spine; a few closed tears and chips; minimal loss.

B/w illustrations. Bumping and wear to spine and corners. Joints are cracked, so binding is starting to become a bit weak. Heavy browning and darkening, especially to page edges.
