Large format. Cloth spine. Pictorial front cover. Illustrated endpapers. Full-page colour and b/w illustrations plus b/w illustrations to text. Bumping and wear to spine and corners. Covers grubby and marked. Corner crease to rear cover at top of spine, smaller corner creased on front cover but board is cracked. Light crease to bottom corner of rear cover also. One hinge cracked. Ink inscription and name to front pastedown. Grubby marks/fingermarks and some foxing throughout.

Large ink inscription to verso of frontis. A few hinges cracked so binding feels weak. Some light foxing and an odd mark to contents. One plate is MISSING and one partially detached.

Light browning to endpapers with small bookseller's label to rear pastedown and two faint yellow marks to front endpaper. A few hinges cracked but binding still firm. Contents are generally clean but with some light foxing.

Heavy browning to half title and last page of text. Some foxing and grubby marks. Slight musty smell. Five colour plates present with one plate ("What a dear coat") appearing twice.
