An early edition. Small format, green cloth spine with black title and cream pictorial boards. 52 pages, colour illustrations throughout. Minimal bumping to spine. Some slight browning to covers, mainly at lower edges. Endpapers lightly browned. Light yellow mark to textblock. Contained in a very scarce original glassine dustwrapper which is browned and edge chipped.

A dictionary of over 700 flowers and plants with their meanings, listed alphabetically and illuminated with every one of the delightful colour drawings made by Kate Greenaway for her little book 'The Language of Flowers' published in 1884. Oblong format, grey cloth with green titles to spine, white initials to front. Orange endpapers. 78 pages. ISBN: 0354043366. Book plate to front pastedown and erased numbers to front endpaper. Price-cut dustwrapper is edge worn with a couple of tears and chips. Slightly grubby with fading to bottom of front panel.

Covers grubby with browning and stains. Bumping and wear to spine and corners, small sharp bump to front edge of faded spine. Front cover is slightly bowed. Small dark mark to text block. Light stains to outside edges of endpapers and a few pages otherwise contents clean and unused.

Publisher's file copy with "property room not to be taken away" ink date stamp to front endpaper of book. Small ticks beside each illustration and bottom corner of page 34 folded up.
