Illustrations have been very neatly coloured in (as they were meant to be).

Turquoise endpapers. 125 numbered pages. All edges yellow. Covers are well worn and grubby with splits to spine (possibly relaid?). Joints have been repaired. There have only been a few ink entries made. Contents are generally clean.

Covers are grubby with bumping to spine and corners. Name in ink (partially erased) to front free-endpaper. Hinges are cracked and pulled (showing stitching beneath) but the binding is still generally tight. Some pages are slightly grubby.

This is a well loved edition and the pages are quite grubby in places.

Deluxe limited edition of 500 copies, SIGNED by Kate Greenaway's brother, John Greenaway. Cream cloth with gilt titles and blind decorations. With an original sketch by Kate Greenaway. Beautiful plates that have captioned page guards. Spine browned and worn with fraying to top & tail. Boards are grubby. Text block browned. Joints cracked but binding tight. SIGNED by John Greenaway and number 275 (?) of 500. Some minor foxing and age related marks presnt. All plates present. Plate on page 88 has a repaired closed tear which does not affect the actual illustration. Plate and tissue guard facing page 166 is creased at edges with a few tiny closed tears.
