An Abridgment of The Popular History of British Ferns. Comprising The Ferns, Club-Mosses, Pepperworts, and Horsetails. Full calf boards, five raised bands to spine and green title block with gilt title. Marbled text block and endpapers. B/w illustrations to text. 12 hand-coloured plates printed in colours by Evans. iv and 187 pages including index plus plates to rear. Gilt vignette of crestof Ladies College Guernsey to front and rear board. Calf boards are rubbed, scuffed and marked. Binding is tight. Large prize plate to front pastedown. College stamp to fly-leaf and verso of rear endpaper. A few foxspots and light browning, most plates affected by foxing.

Spine and covers worn and marked with fraying of tail ends of spine and light paper loss at corners. Small booksellers sticker to front pastedown. Front joint was broken but has been repaired, although the inner margin of the front free-endpaper has torn. Foxing and grubby fingermarks to contents. Rear joint cracked.

Containing Aladdin, The Yellow Dwarf, Princess Belle-Etoile and The Hind in the Wood. Blue cloth with white titles and illustrations. 24 full-page colour plates. Possibly the rarest of Walter Crane's works. Spine and corners bumped and worn, some very slight loss of cloth to top of spine. Small dent to top edge of front cover. Cover edges slightly darkened. Heavy foxing to contents and some grubby fingermarks to page margins. A couple of small closed margin tears. A very decent copy of a scarce book.
