Fine condition in a nearly fine dustwrapper.

Very good condition in a almost very good dustwrapper.
The Hawkes and their sheep farming neighbours are suffering from an unknown 'killer dog' that is attacking their flocks. Suspicion centres on two dogs. Each dog is fiercely defended by its owners. Eventually, after a long night of vigil on Romney Marsh, they discover the secret of the unknown attacker, who always strikes at dawn... Blue boards, silver title to spine. B/w illustrations. Fading to ends of spine. A couple of tiny light spots to rear cover. Ink name and date to front endpaper. Tiny ink stamp '27' to rear pastedown. Contents otherwise clean. Dustwrapper is edge worn and chipped with slight loss from top of spine. Tears to base of spine, small triangle detached but held in place by clear tape on verso. Spine ever so slightly faded.

Cream boards, red titles and picture to front. 95 pages. Colour illustrations throughout. Brown and white pictorial endpapers. Spine and corners slightly bumped and rubbed. Browning to endpapers. Small green pencil mark to rear endpaper. A little foxing to page edges. Light browning to some pages. Tiny ink spots to margins of pages 90 and 91. Contents otherwise are generally clean. Slight musty smell to book. Dustwrapper is edge worn with a couple of small tears. Spine is browned and the wrapper is grubby and marked. Verso is browned.

Gilt on spine a little faded. Faint foxing to endpapers and a little to the bottom of the text block otherwise the contents are clean. Dustwrapper is edgeworn, torn and creased. Top half of the spine is missing. Rear panel is grubby. Edge of front flap is browned. Clear tape covers front fold on verso.
