Bumping and wear to spine and corners. A few marks to covers. Inscription in ink to front endpaper. Foxing to endpapers, outer page edges and some pages internally. 6 colour plates present.
Blue cloth, gilt titles and decorations. 18 tipped-in plates in colour, specially drawn for this edition. Published for Boots The Chemist. Top and tail of spine and corners a little worn with slight loss of colour. A few small marks to spine and rear cover. Name in ink on front endpaper. Some foxing to contents. Plates fine.
Cream cloth spine with dark title. Pictorial onlay to front cover. Colour plates. Covers grubby with water marks to some edges. A little bumping and wear to spine and corners. A little foxing and browning to contents. All plates present.

Small splits in cloth to top and bottom of spine. Gilt from spine has is very worn. Fading to spine and edge of rear cover. A few hinges are cracked. Foxing throughout including margins of plates. 2.5" closed tear to side margin of page 49/50.
