Two volumes: 'Wanderings and Excursions in South Wales, including The Course of the Wye' and 'Wanderings and Excursions in North Wales'. With 48 and 51 plates respectively. Engravings by Radclyffe. Full burgundy leather bindings with gilt titles and decoration. Small bookplates to front pastedowns. Some scuffing to leather, with a little surface loss on board edges of the North Wales volume. Plate for Brecon Church (p.262, South Wales) is detached, and plate at p.260 is partially detached. Partial cracking to front joint of South Wales volume. All plates present.

Large format. Full leather binding with raised bands to spine and gilt title and decoration to spine, gilt borders to covers. Only 500 copies printed. Reference book states 66 engravings including 2 maps, no list of plates in volume. Subtitle: "with the Original of Counties, Hundreds or Wapentakes, Boroughs, Corporations, Towns, Parishes, Villages and Hamlets. The Foundation and Origin of Monasteries, Churches, Advowsons, Tythes, Rectories, Impropriations and Vicarages in General. Describing the County..." 1 or 3 plates missing, depending on your research, a missing plate is North Prospect of Town of Hertford. Leather edges worn with small split at top of spine. Front endpaper almost detached, but otherwise binding sound but front and rear joints showing. Previous owners notes to first blank page which has a corner loss. 1 plate has a little margin loss, 2 plates have closed tears. Some page browning particularly to pages at rear of book.

Large format. Three-quarters leather binding with gilt title to spine and marbled paper boards. Marbled endpapers. Engraved title page plus 30 engraved plates. Engraving by J.C. Allen. Edges rubbed, corners worn with some loss to leather at sides. Boards rubbed/scuffed. Front joint cracked, broken at bottom edge where leather has worn away from spine. Rear joint is sound. Some foxing present. Plate opposite page 149 is torn almost right across at the lower margin of the plate not affecting the plate itself. A few other plates may have small closed margin tears. Most plates have browning to margins of page. It is possible that there is a page or more missing at the end although the book appears to be complete in itself - the last printed page number is 216 and this ends partway through a sentence. Overall, a good working copy.
