Red cloth boards, black title to spine. B/w illustrations. Foxing to endpapers and half-title page. Joints lightly pulled. Contents otherwise clean. Pictorial dustwrapper has a small chip to lower edge of front panel, is lightly edge-worn with a few closed tears (no loss) and is grubby to rear panel.

B/w engraving to title page. xii and 607 pages plus 4 page publisher adverts to rear. A few marks to boards. Cloth to inside front lower corner is starting to come unglued. Joints cracked. Tissue guard in front of title page is browned. Text block browned. Some foxing present, mainly to prelims.
