New Naturalist series. Green buckram cloth. 4 coloured photographic plates. 10 b/w plates. 22 half-tone plates and 116 text figures. ISBN: 0002195585. Something small stuck behind front pastedown causing a small indentation to first few pages. Top edge of text block lightly browned with a few foxspots. A few pages have foxing to top margin. Pictorial dustwrapper is faded to spine (as is usual) with a small nick to either side of top of spine, rear panel lightly browned.

Text block browned. Foxing to prelims and last couple of pages. Pictorial dustwrapper is browned with a few marks, strengthened to verso at corners with large pieces of brown paper tape.

Pictorial dustwrapper is edge-worn, slightly faded to spine, top 1.5" of spine has been torn off and re-stuck together with clear tape to verso, loss to top front panel, a few marks present.

Embossed vignette of dragonfly to rear board. 12 colour plates. vii and 184 pages. Covers slightly grubby and a little scuffed. Text block browned. Contemporary gift inscription in ink to free front endpaper has bled through to imprint on half-title page. Foxing to endpapers. Half-title page and last page heavily browned. A few margin marks. All plates present. Plate opposite page 64 (Psyche) has a closed tear to the mount which has been expertly repaired.
