Western Australia is rightly famous for its unique plants and animals. Among those who have studied them is Rica Erickson. This is Rica's own account of how she became intereested in natural history, who were her guides, mentors and associates, and how she did her research. Interspersed with reproductions of some of her writings, drawings and paintings from the 1940s, '50s and '60s. Pictorial cardwraps. Very good condition in a very good dustwrapper.
The wild life panorama in India in the years after WWII has changed so drastically as to become unrecognisable. Gone are the vast, unbroken stretches of forest and tropical jungle, and with them the teeming animals. Only a fraction of both remains. The author gives a personal perceptive account of the background to this change, traces its disastrous course, and describes the perilous state that has been reached. Black cloth boards, gilt title to spine and publisher's vignette to front. B/w photos. 212 pages including index. Text block and endpapers lightly browned. Front boards is slightly bowed. Contents clean. Yellow pictorial dustwrapper is a little grubby, edge-rubbed and scuffed.

Brown cloth with gilt title and small vignette to spine. Blue maps for endpapers. 7.5 x 5". Spine and corners bumped. Covers slightly edge rubbed. Inscription in ink to front fly-leaf. Pale page browning to endpapers. Top edge of textblock (which is dyed pink) has partially faded. Dustwrapper is edge worn with small chips and a larger tear to lower edge of rear panel. Verso of wrapper is lightly browned/foxed.
