Some amateur repairs to hinges (neat). Some paper repairs (neat). Some hinges are pulled but binding is tight. Some annotation in pencil. Some marks to contents.

Specially rebound in modern green leather binding, with raised bands to spine, title blocks, with gilt titles and decorations. Marbled endpapers. All edges are marbled. Numerous b/w illustrations. Wear and chipping to leather on spine and edges. Some scuffing. Front joint is partially cracked in a few places. Inscription in ink to free front endpaper. Some foxing and browning.

Brown cloth with gilt decoration to spine and illustration to front. All edges gilt. 8 colour plates. Numerous b/w illustrations. Spine and corners bumped and slightly rubbed. Rear cover lightly marked. Top 1" of front fly-leaf neatly removed. Top corner tip of rear free-endpaper removed. Some page corner tips lightly creased. Some hinges pulled causing contents to be a little loose but binding still tight.

Very good condition in a good dustwrapper.
The only children's book by the author of Cold Comfort Farm. Gerda, a little girl who is taken prisoner by the Elves and kept in a cave with an old gnome, is rescued by the princess of the fairies. Beige cloth, red titles and illustration to front cover. 180 pages. Two-colour text illustrations throughout. Spine bumped, some very slight darkening to lower edge of front cover. Name in ink and small embossed booksellers stamp to front free-endpaper. Contents clean. Dustwrapper is browned, chipped and torn to front edge of spine with loss at top and tail of spine. There are splash marks to spine of wrapper. A nice copy of a very scarce children's book. This copy would make a wonderful gift.

Sequel to Cold Comfort Farm where Flora Poste, now Mrs Charles Fairford, once again represents the forces of sanity and order in a new battle. A classic satire. Blue cloth boards, silver title to spine. Boards a little browned and scuffed. Text block browned. Contents clean. Price-clipped pictorial dustwrapper is browned and has a closed tear across top of spine (no loss), minor chipping to base of spine.

A few foxspots to contents.
