White boards with picture to front. Colour illustrations throughout. Covers slightly browned and foxed, some wear and slight loss of backing paper to spine. Musty smell to contents. Finger creases to contents. Crease to top corner of last couple of pages. Where the edge of the title-page is bound at the back of the book there is a small piece missing to the bottom.
Grey cloth, gilt title & vignette to spine, gilt vignette to front depicts a fairy riding an owl with last quarter of moon and a star above. All edges gilt. Numerous b/w plates and illustrations to text. 387 pages. Spine and corners bumped. Front cover is damp stained, spine is slightly darkened. Inscription in ink to verso of front free-endpaper. Damp stains to margins of pages and some grubby fingermarks and other marks. 2 plates have been coloured-in (opposite pages 104 & 146). A good copy of a scarce book.

Red cloth spine, pictorial front board. Oblong format. 8.5 x 11". Wonderful colour illustrations throughout. Covers are edge worn with slight loss of surface paper at corners. Covers grubby with a pink mark to top edge of front cover. Spine bumped and slightly rubbed. Tiny booksellers sticker to front pastedown. Joints cracked. Small margin tears to some pages. Grubby fingermarks to page margins.

Top & tail of spine worn. Rear board scuffed. Lower front corner has large bump to board. Other corners lightly bumped. Joints cracking but binding still good. Lower corners of contents lightly creased caused by the bump to front board. Contemporary inscription in ink to verso of front endpaper. Neat date in ink and a blind address stamp to top of title page. A few scattered foxspots. Hinges pulled. All plates present.
