Name and address in ink to half title-page. Endpapers browned. Page 35/6 has lower corner torn off (slight loss to margin illustrations only, not text). A few light foxspots to contents. A nice copy of the first issue of the first edition (first issue points present: dung beetle is shown to be pushing dung with front legs on pgs 65, 337 & 457 and horse is being dragged up a vertical cliff on pg 316).
A posthumous work of the Rev. William Hiley Bathurst, M.A. with notes by C.W. King. Green cloth, gilt title to spine, gilt vignette to front cover. 30 plates including one tinted and nine in colour. Top & tail of spine worn. Rear board scuffed. Lower front corner has large bump to board. Other corners lightly bumped. Joints cracking but binding still good. Lower corners of contents lightly creased caused by the bump to front board. Contemporary inscription in ink to verso of front endpaper. Neat date in ink and a blind address stamp to top of title page. A few scattered foxspots. Hinges pulled. All plates present.

B/w vignettes to text. 64pp. Due to original binding technique, 4 page numbers duplicated with a little star beside the number. Oblong, 11 x 8.5". Boards just slightly grubby, corners lightly rubbed. Minor (faint) smudge to front pastedown. A few minor grubby marks to contents which appear lovely and bright. Overall a very nice copy indeed.

Red cloth spine. Pictorial front cover. Large, oblong format. Wonderful colour illustrations. Spine and corners bumped and worn. Covers slightly grubby and scuffed, stain to spine edge of front cover where colour has seeped from cloth. Inscription in pencil to front free-endpaper (dated 1907). Endpapers lightly browned. Front joint is cracked (between endpaper and title-page). Contents are foxed and slightly grubby. A nice copy overall.
