Very good condition in a almost very good dustwrapper.
Sequel to Cold Comfort Farm where Flora Poste, now Mrs Charles Fairford, once again represents the forces of sanity and order in a new battle. A classic satire. Blue cloth boards, silver title to spine. Boards a little browned and scuffed. Text block browned. Contents clean. Price-clipped pictorial dustwrapper is browned and has a closed tear across top of spine (no loss), minor chipping to base of spine.

Originally published in 1902, this is the new and limited edition of 310 copies. Cream vellum spine with gilt title, grey boards. 8 pretty colour plates mounted with tissue-guards plus b/w illustrations. 172 pages, edges untrimmed. This is copy no. 204 SIGNED by the author. Spine and corners bumped and slightly worn. Spine and cover edges browned. Covers slightly grubby. Name plate to front pastedown. Tissue-guards to plates are browned. A couple of hinges are cracked. A few foxspots to contents.

Rebound with new boards, original front cover onlaid to front board (small patch of surface paper loss). New endpapers with original pastedowns on inside boards. A few foxspots present. Plate facing page 103 replaced with a loosely inserted photocopy. Rear board a little grubby.

Some fading and what appears to be damp marking to covers. Ink stamp to front endpaper. Small name in ink to front pastedown. Joints are a bit cracked. Some browning. Pencil underling in places. Margin marks. Page corner creasing; a few small margin tears.

Catalogue to rear of book is dated August 1889. Spine is bumped with wear and faded. Corners are bumped. Front hinge next to frontis page is cracked, with browning glue marks showing. Frontis is edge-creased with a few nicks and some foxing. Tissue guard to frontis is heavily foxed. A couple of hinges are pulled. Foxing to varying degrees to pages throughout book.
