Glazed pictorial boards with picture of cute kitten on the front cover. B/w illustrations throughout, many of cats. Spine worn with slight loss at top and tail. Corners worn, covers scuffed but still bright. Inscription in ink to front pastedown. Light brown stain to top edge of front endpaper and title page. A few margin marks but contents generally clean. A nice copy of a scarce Wain title.

Two books bound in one. Peter is the story of Louis Wain's own cat with b/w illustrations. Teufel is Carrington's dog and is illustrated in b/w by Carrington. Pages: 88 (Peter) + 90 (Teufel). Blue cloth. Gilt title on spine is 'Peter - Teufel'. REDUCED FROM £480. Peter is 1st edition 1892. Teufel is 4th edition 1891. Covers unevenly faded. Corners bumped and worn. One inch split to top of spine. Small marks to covers. Inscription in ink to verso of front endpaper. A few margin marks and scattered foxing. Contents generally clean. A decent copy of this scarce early Wain, rare with additional title.

Name in ink to front endpaper. Rear joint starting to crack. Some hinges pulled. Page 37 has 2.25 inch loss from lower edge, not affecting text or illustration. A few grubby marks to contents but generally a bright clean copy.
