To which is prefixed a review of the History of Britain from the Roman period to the Saxon Heptarchy. Interspersed with notes biographical and explanatory. Large format. Two volumes, leather spine & corners, three raised bands to spine, gilt title to label to spine. Marbled paper boards. B/w plates. Volume II binding appears to be a more modern binding than volume I. Both volumes expertly repaired, volume I has contemporary notes bound in at front. Some paper repair also. Address stamp to volume I title page (small). Foxing and dampstaining affecting plates as well as text mainly to volume II. Marbled paper boards of volume I are scuffed. Bindings of both volumes are nice and tight.

Blue boards. Volume II front cover and prelim pages are almost detached, some other pages are loose, where stitching is starting to come undone. Marks and heavy bumping and wear to cover edges. Some foxing and browning. Possibly good candidate for rebinding! At the moment, a reading set only.

Very large, heavy format. Leather spines and corners; marbled boards. Containing the Original, Antiquity, Increase, Present State and Government of those Cities, written at first in the year 1698 by John Stow. Corrected, Improved and very much Enlarged in the year 1720 by John Strype. Illustrated with exact maps of the city and suburbs and all of the Wards; and, likewise, of the Out-Parishes of London and Westminster, and the Country ten miles round London. Together with many fair Draughts of the most Emiment Buildings. Sixth Edition. Heavy wear and some loss of colour to leather spine and corners; chipping. A couple of splits to spines. Scuffing to covers. Small white labels to bottom left hand corners of front covers. Foxing and browning; some pages have chipping/bookworm holes. Musty odour to both volumes (From age). A few pages are detached, or almost detached, but loosely inserted. Over 90% of the plates have been removed and page 21/22 of Volume 2 is missing as well (probably accidentally removed when a plate was removed).
