'To all merry good-tempered, and well-behaved children, who are of course fond of Fairy Tales and to all grown-up people who are not stiff and starched...' Green cloth, gilt title to spine and vignette to front cover with embossed borders. Stories of elves, princesses, dwarfs and fairies. B/w chapter head and tail pieces. Spine and corners a little bumped, corners slightly worn. Small nick to lower edge of front cover. Small split to spine rear edge. Covers clean with gilt still bright. Attractive pictorial bookplate of Dora Allison on front pastedown. Inscription in ink on front endpaper dated December 1869. Some light creasing to pages and some fingermarks. Two pages have circular black marks to them (pages 88 and 120). A bright copy of a scarce early fairy tale book.

A dog story written from the dog's point of view, the dog resembles a Boxer and is called 'Scoutie'. Written in 'doggie' dialect. Green cloth spine with silver title, green paper boards with black title and vignette to front. B/w photo of 'The Orther' as frontis, b/w pencil sketches to text throughout. Covers clean and tight. Inscription in ink to front endpaper. Contents clean. Green dustwrapper is lightly worn at corners and browned to spine. A nice copy of an unusual title.

Contents nice and clean.
